Robert Carraro founded Lake Hills Philanthropic Services, LLC (www.lakehillsps.com) to help foster and strengthen effective relationships between donors and the worthy organizations working to improve our world. He brings to Lake Hills broad experience with particular expertise in international development, capacity-building, economic opportunity, global health concerns and environmental issues.
Bob has spent most of his career working to bring financial resources and increased potential to disadvantaged communities across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. He has served in senior program, marketing and fundraising positions with the Asia Foundation, Carbon Disclosure Project, the Nature Conservancy, TechnoServe and Dreyfus Health Foundation. Direct non-US partnership-building experience includes Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Cambodia, Ukraine, Poland, Canada, Switzerland, UK, Brazil, Peru, El Salvador, Nicaragua, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya.
Earlier in his career, Bob served as an official of the Miyazaki (Japan) Prefectural Government and was a television news producer for the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK). His articles, essays and book reviews have appeared in numerous publications, such as the Asian Wall Street Journal, the Baltimore Sun, the Christian Science Monitor, Commonweal, Japan Quarterly and the San Diego Union Tribune.
Bob was educated at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service (MSFS, East Asian affairs and international trade) and Bentley College (BS, international business). He is currently working on a Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) degree at the Johns Hopkins University.
