Dune Thorne is a Partner of Brown Advisory where she Heads the Boston Office and works closely with families to help them develop thoughtful financial and investment plans. She leads her own family’s family office where she works with 3 generations and over 20 family members as well as a small group of other families to provide multi-generational investment, tax and long-term planning advice.

Prior to joining Brown Dune was a principal and Silver Bridge Advisors, a Boston based boutique investment advisory firm. Before coming back to Boston in 2007 Dune worked as the Director of Investments for Circle Financial a multi- family investment think tank in New York and was a teaching assistant at Columbia Business School in their wealth management discipline.

Ms. Thorne has published articles in Financial Planning and Forbes.com and has been quoted in the Financial Times, American Banker, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Family Wealth Report, Investment News, Bloomberg, Private Asset Management and in the book “Women and Philanthropy.” She was honored as a one of the 2013 World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders, one of the Top 50 Women in Wealth by AdvisorOne in 2011, was a recipient of Boston Business Journal's Emerging Leader Award in 2011, was an honored participant of the Family Wealth Alliance 40minus Leadership Summit and recognized as one of Banker and Tradesman’s New Leaders in 2009. She is also a graduate of the Boston Center for Community & Justice Lead Boston Program.

Ms. Thorne is the founder and Chairwoman of Invest in Girls, serves as a member of the Golden Seeds LP Advisory Committee and Tiger 21. She is also a trustee and investment committee member for Milton Academy and the deCordova Sculpture Park & Museum and serves on the investment committee for Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts and Lincoln Nursery School.

Ms. Thorne earned an MBA from Harvard Business School where she completed independent studies on women and investing, as well as angel investing, and a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College. She is a CERTIFIED WEALTH STRATEGIST® (CWS®) professional and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA).
