Sam Sussman, Partner, Head of Investment Strategy / Portfolio Manager 

Sam Sussman is a partner, Head of Investment Strategy and a Portfolio Manager for Alternative Investment Group.  Sam is responsible for portfolio construction and management of Alternative Investments Opportunity, L.P. and Alternative Investments Sustainability, L.P.  He is also responsible for directing the firm’s top-down research, identifying investment opportunities across strategies, industry sectors, and geographies and has primary responsibility for sourcing and monitoring the firm’s event-driven and credit managers. Sam is a member of the firm’s ESG and Sustainable Investing Committee.    He joined the firm in January 2012.  Prior to joining Alternative Investment Group, Sam was a Partner at Cadogan Management, where he was the head of research and responsible for sourcing and monitoring credit and event-driven equity managers.  Before Cadogan, Sam was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns where he spent nearly 13 years in the firm’s securitized products area.  Prior to this, he was an associate/consultant at Corporate Decisions, Inc., a strategy consulting firm.

Sam holds a B.A., magna cum laude, in Economics from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.  Sam is also a Board Member and Treasurer for Gracie Gardens Cooperative Association and a Board Member of Agora Partnerships, a non-profit focused on global economic development.
