As of July 11, Northeastern announced that it will be directing $25 million of its endowment funds toward sustainable investments over the next five years. Though NU has no direct investments in fossil fuel companies, some members the student activist group “DivestNU” disagree with the university’s investment policies.

Northeastern University a recognized leader in sustainability practices, education, and research announced today it is taking an innovative additional step to address the global challenge of climate change. The university will direct $25 million of its endowment to investments with a focus on sustainability, including clean energy, renewable, green building, and sustainable water agriculture.
