Endowment Progress

University endowments are making a number of notable announcements as they create intentionally designed endowments to invest for social, environmental and economic sustainability. These include: 

2022

UVIMCO expanded its commitment to responsible and sustainable investing and created its Investor Responsibility Framework.

Carleton University updated its responsible investment policies to include a commitment to divest its endowment from fossil fuel and put in place a strategy to achieve significant decarbonization of its portfolios by 2030.

Rice University committed to carbon neutrality by 2030.

Bentley University committed to carbon neutrality by 2030.

Ben Gurion University announced its decision to divest its portfolio of oil and coal. 

Williams University announced its full commitment to end indirect fossil fuel holdings after having previously ended its direct holdings.

The University of Maine System will divest its direct fossil fuel holdings by the end of May 2022 and will end investments in mutual or comingled funds with fossil fuel exposure by 2030.
