The Intentional Endowment Network’s Net-Zero Steering Committee is leading the charge in the endowments space and several notable endowments, such as Harvard, Stanford, Arizona State, Michigan, and Penn, have already committed to net-zero investment portfolios by 2050. The road to net-zero may be long, but what is the simplest way for an endowment to start the journey? Conducting a carbon footprint assessment of an investment portfolio is a great starting point, as it allows investors to quantify the amount of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) their investments contribute to, compare them to established benchmarks, and devise a strategy for managing their GHG exposure.
