In 2019, Colgate became the first college or university in New York to achieve carbon neutrality. The university is committed to sustainability through innovative projects and programming that enhance teaching and learning, create long-term campus and community resiliency, build and restore robust ecological systems, and support a healthier and more just society. Since its baseline in 2009, the university has reduced its campus emissions by over 40 percent and has established a $1.25 million green revolving loan fund to finance additional projects.
