One of the key actions recommended in IEN’s Racial Equity Investing Primer for Endowments, is to conduct bias training for Boards and investment teams. In part one of a three part series on Bias in Asset Management, Angela Outlaw-Matheny moderates a discussion for investors who truly aim to address the underrepresentation of ESG and diverse led asset management firms in the institutional marketplace. Panelists Dorien Nunez, Demetriouse Russell, and others join to explore key considerations to identify unconscious bias in the investing process, and practical steps to overcome these biases. Presenters explored:
- Why understanding unconscious bias must be a key consideration in the investment approach
- How bias impacts people in the organization
