Monday, November 9

Please be sure to eat lunch before checking in for the event. Lunch options are available for purchase in Smith Memorial Student Union, please see the current list of restaurants and their locations.

9am-12pm: IEN Steering Committee Meeting, Room 338 - for IEN Steering Committee members only (includes coffee, snacks, and lunch)

12pm: Forum Check-in Opens, Room 355

1pm-5:30pm: Forum Presentations and Table Discussions, Room 355 (includes coffee and snack break) 

5:30-7pm: Networking Reception, Room 338

7-9pm: Dinner and Keynote, Room 355

  • Check-In is 3pm and Check-Out is 12pm.
  • Luggage can be stored with the front desk if returning to the hotel before departure, or can be stored inside the meeting room for the Forum during Forum hours.
  • Guests receive complimentary access to Wifi in guestrooms and use of the Fitness Center.
  • Discounted valet rates available for guests of the hotel are $39 for overnight parking.

Dress

The dress for the event is Business Casual.

 

Public Transportation

Portland’s MAX line can get you to and from the airport, hotel and PSU’s campus.  Daytime trains run approximately every 15 minutes (see additional details at the bottom of this page).

Purchasing your TriMet Pass

A TriMet pass allows access to the MAX Light Rail, WES Commuter Rail and Portland Streetcar.

The following passes are available:
  • 2.5 hour pass: $2.50, for airport to hotel transfers only

  • 1-day pass: $5; Book of 5: $25

    • We suggest purchasing a book of 5-day passes for $25, which are conveniently pre-validated.

  • 7-day pass: $26


New to public transportation?  Learn more about the MAX line here.  Attendees must purchase their own TriMet passes and ensure they are validated before boarding the MAX.

 

Parking at PSU

Several options are available within walking distance of Smith Memorial Student Union.  Please see the attached Campus Map for the following lot locations, and the visitor parking website at PSU for further options.  All lots are first come, first serve.

Sustainable Dining suggestion

Dinner will be provided as part of the Forum program on Monday, Nov. 9th. If you are looking for dining options Sunday or Tuesday nights, we recommend Urban Farmer:

MAX from the Airport to The Nines Hotel

Directions from the Portland International Airport (PDX) to The Nines Hotel

Travel Time: Appx 40 minutes

First and last available trains: 4:57am-11:49 pm

• From the baggage claim head outside and follow the Portland Int’l Airport MAX Station signs – walk about 2 minutes
• Purchase your pass, validate if needed
• Board the MAX Red Line train towards City Center & Beaverton– approx. 40 minute ride
• Depart at Mall/SW 5th Avenue MAX Station
• Walk to The Nines Hotel - 525 SW Morrison Street – directly across the street from the MAX station

 

MAX from The Nines Hotel to PSU Campus

Travel time: Appx. 4 minutes by MAX, 10 minutes including walking

First and last available trains:  4:15am-12:15am

 

Walk to MAX Line:

• Upon exiting The Nines turn left towards SW. 5th Ave. 
• At the corner turn right crossing Morrison Street.
• The Orange line stop will be on your left-hand side

 

MAX line directions

• Walk to Pioneer Place/SW 5th Ave MAX Station
• Board MAX Orange Line to Milwaukie
• Depart at PSU Urban Center/SW 5th & Mill MAX Station 

 

Walk to Smith Memorial Student Union

• Depart train and pass straight through University Plaza, landmarks include The College of Urban Public Affairs,  Ben & Jerry's, Plaza Clock
• Cross over SW. 6th Ave. Continue straight, passing the University Services Building on your right hand side and an active construction on on your left. 
• Cross Southwest Broadway. Cramer Hall will be on your right Smith Memorial Student Union will be on your left. 
• The main entrance to Smith will be on your left-hand side halfway down the building. Look for an Intentional Endowments Forum sign. Enter the building, pass the food court shops, and the Information sign. Elevator banks will be on your left-hand side across from Starbucks. 
• Take the elevators to the third-floor to room 355.

 

 

MAX from PSU Campus to The Nines Hotel

Travel time: Appx. 3 minutes by MAX, 10 minutes including walking 

First and last available trains: 5:11am-12:31am

 

Walk to the MAX line

• Upon exiting the building, turn to the right, cross Southwest Broadway.  Continue straight pass construction on your right.
• Cross over SW. 6th Ave. The train stop will be located on SW. 6th Ave., do not go through the plaza again. Landmarks include a small sculptural fountain and Yum Yum restaurant.

 

MAX Line directions

• Walk 492 feet to PSU Urban Center/SW 6th & Montgomery MAX Stn
• Board MAX Green Line to Gateway TC
• Depart at  Pioneer Courthouse/SW 6th Ave MAX Stn

 

Walk to The Nines Hotel

• Exit the train turn left toward Macy's.  Cross MorrisonStreet.
• Turn right and The Nines will be on the left-hand side.

 

MAX from The Nines Hotel to the Airport

Travel Time: Appx 40 minutes

First and last available trains: 3:58am-10:30pm

• From the hotel, walk to the Pioneer Square South MAX Station by heading west on SW Morrison toward SW 6th Avenue. 
• Turn right on SW Yamhill Street and the station will be on the right. -appx 2 minute walk
• Board the MAX Red Line train towards the Portland Airport  - approx. 40 minute ride
• Depart at the Portland Int’l Airport Station
