Artificial intelligence (AI) presents significant opportunities for positive impact when designed and deployed responsibly. At the same time, the risks associated with AI investments are numerous and complex. Despite AI's prominence in both investment portfolios and public discourse, many institutional investors are still developing their approach to investing responsibly in AI.

This briefing paper is designed for busy institutional stakeholders, with the purpose of:
- Uplifting the most relevant frameworks, tools, and research that supports a collective understanding of AI risks and opportunities across asset classes, and
- Outlining next steps for continued peer learning and collective action within the IEN community.
As AI continues to reshape markets and society, institutional investors have both the responsibility and the opportunity to help steer its development toward outcomes that align with their missions and values, and reduce both firm-level and systemic risk to their portfolios.
