TRFF is a family-led, environmentally driven private foundation. It combines grantmaking, leadership development, and impact investing to catalyze grassroots climate action and environmental sustainability. Guided by equity and transparency, it has also committed to becoming Net Zero by 2030.

Net Zero Plan: The RFF is committed to net zero emissions in their portfolio and have pledged to an entirely net zero portfolio by 2030. They have also signed into the UN-convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance (NZAOA).

Portfolio Transparency: The RFF believes in portfolio transparency and has included their investments by percentages on their website.

Sustainable Impact Investing: Included on their homepage“Impact investments are investments in companies, organizations, and funds with the intention to generate positive social and environmental impact alongside a financial return”

Sustainable Investment Policy: Yes, the RFF uses a framework with tools to measure impact. It includes five levels with increasingly more quantifiable impact. 

  • Level 1 includes Negative Screening.
  • Level 2 is Positive Screening and Shareholder Engagement.
  • Level 3 is Sustainability Integration.
  • Level 4 is Thematic/Place-Based Investing.
  • Level 5 is Capacity and Building Program Related Investments.
