Assets Under Management: $4.92 Billion (2024)

The University of Sydney's endowment stands at $4.9 billion, making it the wealthiest university in Australia. Established in 1997, the endowment is managed across three pools: long-term, medium-term, and short-term. The university has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and has taken steps to align its investment portfolio with this goal. The University has stated:

“Investment mandates must, based on the best information available: (a) be aligned with and supportive of the UN SDGs by 2030; (b) be aligned with and supportive of net zero carbon emissions by 2050” 

 

Net Zero Endowment Plan: The university is committed to having a net zero portfolio by 2050, stated in their Investment Policy Statement (p. 6), under policy 9: Integrated ESG framework. 

Sustainable Impact Investing: Following the link to University of Sydney’s sustainability strategy, under pillar 2 there is aim to increase impact investments within the portfolio.

Sustainable Investment Policy: The university adds Key targets and initiatives from their strategy and policy.
