Joanna Olin, Chief of Staff, Smith College

Joanna serves as Chief of Staff at Smith College Massachusetts. Until March of 2018, Joanna served as Chief of Staff and Counsel at Hampshire College. Hampshire is a private, non-profit college that was launched in 1970 as an experiment in alternative education. It is a member of the Five College Consortium along with Amherst College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College and UMass Amherst. Hampshire is a leader in education and practice on sustainability. In 2016 Hampshire opened the R.W. Kern Center, designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the Living Building Challenge. Hampshire is committed to carbon neutrality in campus operations, and in 2011 implemented a comprehensive investment policy incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria to guide the management of its endowment. Joanna serves as a Trustee of the Crane Institute of Sustainability, host to Intentional Endowments Network.
