Dr. Morgan R. Olsen is Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at Arizona State University. He serves as Arizona State University’s chief business and financial officer, and holds an appointment as Professor of Practice in the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education.

Dr. Olsen’s responsibilities at the University include overseeing treasury and financial functions, capital projects, real estate, facilities operations, human resources, police, environmental health and safety, information technology and business and auxiliary services at the University’s four campuses.

Dr. Olsen serves on the board of directors of the United Educators insurance company, and is a past chair of the board of directors for the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). He is a past president of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO). Dr. Olsen also holds memberships in EDUCAUSE, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the Society for College and University Planning.

Dr. Olsen came to Arizona State University in November 2008 from Purdue University, where he served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer. Dr. Olsen previously served at Southern Methodist University as Vice President for Business and Finance, Eastern Illinois University as Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer and Associate Professor in the college student personnel program, and as Vice President for Fiscal Affairs at Emporia State University in Kansas.

Dr. Olsen earned a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, and a master's degree in public administration from the University of North Dakota, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Olsen earned his Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Kansas. He served as acting Executive Budget Analyst for the North Dakota Office of Management and Budget before entering university administration in 1985.
