Higher Education Equitable and Clean Economy Opportunity ...
Organized as part of the 2020 Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit convened by Second Nature and the Intentional Endowments Network, the Equitable and Clean Economy Opportunity Zone Workshop brought together university, nonprofit and business representatives to advance investments in and around universities by leveraging Opportunity Zones. About 30 individuals participated in this interactive and action-oriented workshop, half of whom were university representatives ranging from Trustees, Chief Financial Officers, to Faculty.
Yale Community Conversation – Event Summary
On January 15, 2020, the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies hosted their monthly Community Conversations event, a facilitated conversation for members of the Yale community and the public to discuss issues pertaining to the School’s program and the wider Yale community. The recent protest during the Harvard/Yale football game, which called for Yale’s endowment to divest from fossil fuels, had brought the facilitators of the Community Conversations event to consider a broader dialogue about issues around divestment and sustainable investing.

It was the 2019 Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit, which I had the opportunity to attend as a fellow with IEN. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I came into the fellowship with the goal of picking up a few new skills and gaining exposure to the world of endowment investing. BOSTON, MA (November 25, 2019) – The Intentional Endowments Network (“IEN”) brought new expertise to the executive team guiding its work last month, with the addition of two new members to the Board of Directors of The Crane Institute of Sustainability (“Crane”), IEN’s nonprofit organizational home. Both Evelyn Murphy, president of The WAGE Project and former Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, and Gabe Rissman, co-founder & president of YourStake joined Crane’s Board in October. Their unique perspectives on the cross-sector leadership for sustainable investing bring further depth to the group of investment and higher education leaders governing IEN’s work.
