Created as a partnership between IEN's Net Zero Endowments & JEDI (justice, equity, diversity & inclusion) initiatives, IEN's Climate Justice Taskforce has two prime objectives. First, this Taskforce is designed to increase awareness about socioeconomic issues stemming from and exacerbated by climate change. This Taskforce is also focused on sharing thought leadership, best practices, and opportunities for impact in the process of making a just transition to a regenerative economy. Through December 2025, IEN's Climate Justice Taskforce will support the development of a new IEN project titled "Leading with Justice 2.0" - a series of resources which will address various socioeconomic issues intensified by climate change while highlighting financial opportunities for investors that come with meaningful action.
This project will build on IEN's paper, "Leading with Justice: Net Zero Investing & Conversations on Climate Justice," which defines climate justice & demonstrates how it's central to achieving net-zero goals (published in 2022 by a subcommittee of IEN's Net Zero Endowments Leadership Committee). With an overview of climate justice established in the first Leading with Justice paper, Leading with Justice 2.0 will take a deeper dive into climate justice by exploring the following themes:
Developing Paper Topics
- Overview: Climate Justice is the Solution - An Impactful Framework for Impactful Returns
- Community Engagement: Centering the Voices of those Most Impacted for Collaborative Climate Action
- Emerging Markets: Global Lenses for Systemic Change - The Importance of the Global South
- Inclusive Prosperity: Through the Green Economy & MSI Endowment Growth
- Health: Leveraging Capital to Address Public Health & Promote Environmental Justice
We invite you to explore the Leading with Justice Paper & to participate in our transformative "Leading with Justice 2.0" follow up project by submitting case studies relevant to the above topics to our RFP.
